Course Name: 8th Grade Exploratory Business
Grade Level(s): 8 (7th grade as well in Spring 2024)
Course Description: Exploratory Business is an 8th grade business course that offers a broad overview of business. We will look at how the U.S. economy functions, basic forms of business ownership, management, advertising & marketing, and sports & entertainment management. Students will learn through a project based approach with daily activities, small group activities, projects, and quizzes. Students will work in the Virtual Business Retailing and Virtual Business Sports program simulation as well for a more hands-on approach.

Course Name: Accounting

Course Description: Accounting is designed for any student who has an interest in going to college for business or running their own business. Topics include the accounting equation, debit and credit parts, t-accounts, small business transactions, recording and posting transactions to a general journal, reconciling a bank statement, recording adjusting and closing entries, journalizing purchases and cash payments, journalizing sales and receipts, and preparing payroll records. This course will prepare students for their first accounting class in two year or four year college. It will also help students who have an interest in running a business in their future.
